The game and dating show Tur i kärlek was my first project on TV 4. At the time I was working with lighting technique for the production company MTV-studios in Jonsered, outside of Gothenburg. This is where the show was to be filmed and when they needed a "female co-host" to accompany Adam Alsing someone suggested me.
I was then hanging in the ceiling operating spotlights. In one week I went from wearing jeans, boots and cut off leather gloves to dresses, high heels and painted nails. It was a total transformation and a new journey in my life began.
The first show was broadcasted the 15th of February 1991. I still remember the first time I was recognised on the street - I turned around wondering what they were looking at before I realised it was me.
Gunde and I
By the time I was asked to do the Swedish version of Fort Boyard I had already worked as a TV and a weather presenter as well as having done the Swedish commentary for the American Gladiators together with Hasse Crispin.
Fort Boyard became a major success on TV 4 and was one of the most fun projects I have ever worked on. Gunde Svan and I were like two children in a playground and we got paid for it!
The entire Swedish celebrity A-list were there and played with Gunde and me, I was 25 years old and it was one long party from morning till night.
I then left Gunde and Fort Boyard to travel the world on the travel and game show Jakten på den röda rubinen (Treasure Hunt). It was a fantastic adventure where we flew helicopter over Mexico City, landed with helicopter on Mount Blanc, did train hopping in Tunisia and climbed pyramids.
But fortunately for me our paths crossed again. Gunde and I worked together in the final season of Fort Boyard and also when TV 4 was filming the Gladiotors. It is wonderful working with Gunde and I hope we get the opportunity again in the future.
Telethons and galas
I have worked with both big and small stars in the Swedish version of Stars in their Eyes, a "soundalike" talent show for adults and kids. I have also hosted various gala shows where the charity telethon Faddergalan (Sponsor Gala) has become a tradition. Once again my job had me travel the world and through Faddergalan and the organisation Plan, which supports children in developing countries, I met people living in a completely different reality to what most of us are used to.
But even though I have seen poverty and heard tragic life stories I still see lots of hope. There are so many people out there who will never give up the fight for a brighter future. We must not forget this - we can all contribute by sharing and showing that we care.
Over many years the New Years entertainment show Agneta's Nyårskarameller became a tradition and later we added the Christmas version Agneta's Smällkarameller. Now that tradition has died, which in fact is a bit sad.
Further on I got the opportunity to travel again. This time with the show Missing, where we found and reunited long lost family members and relatives. I also ended up co-hosting Let's Dance together with the wonderful David Helenius. However, after two seasons I felt I was tempted to do other things.
The urge to write has taken over and deep down I also feel I want to work in a different kind of TV production. Only the future can tell what this will be. If you are to take a step into a new direction you must leave the past behind - closing those doors in order to open new ones.
